Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin.

  • Indian gooseberry, a rich source of vitamin C serves as the best home remedy for diabetes. Take 1 tbsp of gooseberry juice and mix it with a cup of bitter gourd juice. Consume the mixture daily for about 2 months.
  • Yemeni med: Soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds (Hilba) in 1 cup of water at night. Drink the water in the morning on an empty stomach and eat the seeds. Very good for diabetes because it works like insulin.
  • Bitter Gourd – Make a watery juice of a small Bitter Gourd (remove seeds) and drink every morning. Bitter Gourd also helps to clear pimples and maintain a good skin, and is good for de-worming the intestines.

  • The Fenugreek Plant has been used as a treatment for diabetes for hundreds of years. Fenugreek is a proven hypoglycemic in numerous studies performed on animals, though not enough studies have been done on humans to definitively prove the hypoglycemic effect. Fenugreek contains three compounds: rigonelline, 4-hydroxyisoleucine, and fenugreekine. The trigonelline works by slowing glucose absorption from the intestinal tract and so preventing spikes in patient blood levels after meals. The 4-hydroxyisoleucine, on the other hand, directly appears to stimulate the production of insulin by the pancreas. Eat ten fully-grown curry leaves every morning. Eating these leaves for three months should help protect you against an onset of diabetes through genetics. It is also helpful for helping alleviate symptoms in severely obese patients.
  • Cinnamon : Cinnamon is a spice derived from the bark of an evergreen tree, which is native to India. Its active ingredient has been proven to act like insulin and lower blood glucose levels. In medical studies, cinnamon has also been proven to lower bad cholesterol levels. Another great benefit of cinnamon is that it helps neutralize free radicals, dangerous chemicals which are elevated in diabetics. Neutralizing these free radical will help reduce or eliminate risk of serious complications.

Diabetes is becoming a common western, and more lately eastern, condition that is easily managed and even cured.

  • drastically reduces insulin levels.

The juice is also well documented for its ability to lower blood sugar levels, but since it lowers insulin levels rather than raising them, scientists believe that its effects are due to its changes in fat metabolism.

Bitter melon does not imitate insulin. Neither does it reduce the amount of fat absorbed into the bloodstream. It increases it.

But at least in laboratory experiments with animals, the juice cancels out the effects of high fatty acid levels in the bloodstream so that they do not cause insulin resistance.

It causes fat cells to use energy inefficiently so less fat is stored.

Even though the melon juice lowers insulin levels and raises free fatty acid levels, the results of using juice on a regular basis are lower blood sugars, lower triglycerides, and lower weight.

Bitter melon is available in most Asian markets. When you buy the fresh product, look for one that is pale green or yellow (orange ones are too old).

Slice the unpeeled fruit lengthwise, remove the seeds, cut it into thin slices, and steam or boil them until the fruit is tender enough to cut with the edge of a spoon.

Treating Diabetes by juicing can be as simple as extracting the fresh juice from raw fruit and vegetables.

Juices used to Treat Diabetes

Daily Juicing of vegetables and fruits can be used in any combination of the following:

  • ginger,
  • garlic,
  • celery,
  • pumpkin,
  • cabbage,
  • asparagus,
  • parsley,
  • spinach,
  • leeks,
  • spinach,
  • beets and
  • carrots.

Drug Interactions

Grapefruit juice interacts badly with certain prescription drugs. Please check with your physician.

Diabetics who are taking the following medication should not use bitter melon juice:

  • chlorpropamine,
  • glyburide,
  • phenformin, or
  • insulin.

This can increase the effects of these drugs and lead to severe hypoglycemia. Diabetics should consult their medical professional before taking this juice.

Medical Precautions

If you have complications in pregnancy such as gestational diabetes or blood pressure problems please check the use of mangosteen juice with your physician.

Always take fruit juices with food. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limiting fruit juice for children under 6 years of age to four to six ounces a day.

Bitter melon is an abortifacient, so women who are pregnant or nursing should not take it. Do not give this melon to small children and infants due to its hypoglycemic effects. Bitter melon is also an emmenagogue, which means that it encourages or increases menstrual flow in women.

Avoid

  • Due to high sugar content, diabetes may be aggravated by excessive intake of sweet juices such as carrots and most fruits.
  • Excessive intake of tomato and citrus juices could upset the body’s natural acid (pH) balance as they are highly acidic.

Side Effects

  • According to the American Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine: If too much bitter melon juice is taken; it can cause mild abdominal pain or diarrhea.
  • Multiple servings of Mangosteen juice tend to raise blood sugar initially even with as little as 15ml. This has been observed more often in people of Asian descent who are not obese.

Preliminary Trials

  • Two preliminary trials found that aloe vera juice (containing 80% aloe gel) helps lower blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 diabetes.
  • August 29, 2006 — Drinking pomegranate juice may help people with diabetes reduce their risk of heart disease. In the small study, published in the journal Atherosclerosis, researchers examined the effects: of drinking a concentrated form of pomegranate juice. Michael Aviram, researcher of the Techion Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel, says:”Patients with type 2 diabetes (who were not dependent on insulin therapy) were tested. Blood sugar levels were not affected which suggests that the antioxidants found in pomegranate juice may be especially beneficial in reducing heart-related risks associated with diabetes.”
