Juice Fasting: Raw Food Health

February 25th, 2009

juice fastingThe Health Benefits Of Juicing

I started juicing raw vegetables and apples in 1996.

It is very easy to do. All you need is a good juicer.

Much of the foods people eat, such as french fries, fried chicken, microwave popcorn, doughnuts, margarine, cookies and pastries contain an artery-clogging fat called Trans fat.

This fat can lead to type two diabetes, high cholesterol and other health problems.

If you desire to live a long, healthy, vibrant life, you have to take care of your body by giving it the proper nutrition. That is why I am such a strong advocate for Juicing.

Health Benefits

The benefits of consuming these freshly made, health drinks are many. They aid in keeping organs such as heart, liver, and kidneys strong and healthy.

They also help prevent colon cancer and keep your digestive system in tiptop shape. This is because they are a great supplier of protein, vitamins and minerals.

These drinks also boost the immune system and promote good-looking healthy skin.

Another health benefit to consuming these drinks is they help you lose weight and lower cholesterol naturally.

Nutritional Health Begins On The Inside

I am a firm believer that if you work on being healthy on the inside it will show-up on the outside.

Sometimes when I run into old friends they tell me that I look very healthy. I believe the juices that I drink has a lot to do with this.

I know a woman who smoked for many years. When she finally quit smoking I noticed in a short period of time, the skin on her face look healthier.

There was almost a glow to it. Can you visualize what would happen if more and more people would work on being healthy from the inside out? I can!

Juice Detoxification Best Way to Remove Toxins from Body

February 22nd, 2009

Juice Fasting

Fasting is one of oldest and effective ways of burning huge amounts of accumulated waste products in the body.

Previously, people used to fast by drinking water only throughout the day. Experts say that fasting on juices, both vegetable and fruit, is much gentler and beneficial in normalizing all body processes.

Juice fasting involves intake of juices diluted with water every hour or two from morning to night.

Avoid taking solid foods or other kinds of liquids, especially canned juices if you are on juice fasting.

The total juice intake in a day should be about 7-9 glasses.

Vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, iron, calcium and enzymes contained in these juices supply much needed nutrients for the body’s own healing activity and thereby speeding up the recovery process.

While on juice fast, ensure that your bowels are flushed out regularly.

Juice fasting is known to have many advantages. It is the safest method to detox one’s body by cleansing and eliminating those cells and tissues, which are dead or damaged.

It reduces the cholesterol levels; treats symptoms of allergies, acne, and headaches by flushing out toxins — making one feel good and healthy.

Juice fasting can be done with almost any fruits or vegetables that are eaten raw. Best veggies for juice fasting are tomatoes, cucumbers, celery and carrots.

A combination of apple and carrot juice or apple and tomato juice i.e. a combination of a fruit and a vegetable is a healthy and nutritious drink.

Huge varieties of fruits and vegetables can be used in combinations or separately. They give the body its daily calories and enhance health.

First, peel the off skin from vegetables and fruits. Rinse in filtered water.

After extracting the juice, dilute it with water in equal parts. Make sure that your juicer does a good job of extracting the juice.

Consume the juice immediately after extraction. Before you start your juice fasting, consult your GP in case your body does not agree with juice fasting.

Foul breath, a coated tongue, and a bad taste in the mouth are said to be the first symptoms to appear when one fasts. These symptoms can be felt till your body has cleared out all wastes.

In short, exclusive diet of juices of vegetables and fruits is an effective way to restore health from diseases, cleanse and regenerate tissues and rejuvenate the body.

Sugar Detox! Cleansing Drinks to Detoxify the Body

juice fasting dietGuide To Juice Fasting For A Home Body Detox

Juice fasting is a type of Home body detox where an individual only consumes juice created from both fruits and or vegetables.

This method is commonly used to clean out organs in the body that have piled up contaminants and toxins.

I personally like to juice fast because it leaves me feeling more energized and ready to take on my day.

A juice fast is usually associated with a Home Body Detox, in order to stimulate health considering less energy is required to digest food while juice fasting. Because of this, the body can focus its resources on expelling toxins that have built up over time.

Because toxins can accumulate in various parts of the body, certain juice fast diets target specific areas of the body. Some juice fast diets target the kidneys, liver, urinary tract, and even the skin. The immune system and the brain can also be cleansed by juice fasting, which will leave you healthier and feeling better than ever.

In addition to cleaning out certain organs, juice fasts have many other benefits. Some perform a juice fast for religious purposes, while others may do it just to lose some weight.

Juice fasting can also help to kick a bad habit, such as smoking, over eating, or even an addiction to caffeine. Juice fasting is also an alternative medicine practice, used for illnesses ranging from depression to cancer.

A Home Body detox diet can vary in the amount of time it is practiced, and some people even indulge in week long fasting periods up to two times a year.

Some perform monthly juice fasts that last only a couple of days, while others actually make a vacation out of it and travel to exotic locations like Thailand. I like to fast once or twice a year, since it takes about six months for toxins to accumulate in the blood stream.

Most fruits and vegetables do not contain fiber in the juice form, so it is sometimes necessary to stimulate certain organs in order to stimulate waste. Some fasters use enemas to speed up the process, while others take an herbal or saltwater laxative to help with stimulation.

One method that works great at stimulating the colon and intestines to expel waste is to include psyllium husks in the juicer, since they are able to create enough bulk to make enough waste to stimulate the necessary organs.

I personally like to take a supplement with fiber, because it gives your body everything it needs to function normally.

There are many different fruits and vegetables that offer great health benefits, but not all of them work during a juice fast. Certain greens work great in a juicer, such as parsley, kale, and spinach. Broccoli and cabbage also work great, and can add a unique flavor to the juice.

Some root vegetables, such as sweet potatoes and carrots work great in juice fasts, since they offer great nutritional value and also taste great.

Grapes, apples, and citrus fruits offer a great amount of juice, and can sweeten up your juice fasting experience. Spearmint, peppermint, ginger, and green onion are a few of the herbs that taste great in juice, along with wheatgrass, fennel, and even basil.

I personally love carrots and citrus fruits, because they have a tart yet sweet flavor.

Juice fasts do not have any negative side effects, so long as the individual fasting is taking care of their body. Even though juice from fruits and vegetables provides our body with various vitamins and minerals, it is sometimes necessary to also include a multivitamin to give the body everything it needs.

As long as the body is getting everything it needs to function, juice fasting can provide the body with great benefits relating to health.

Raw Vegetable Juices for Raw Nutrition

February 13th, 2009

Real Raw Food, Juicing Nutrition and Vitamins

A daily vitamin packed drink of your choice that includes romaine lettuce, celery, stalks kale, apples, lemon, and fresh ginger (or make your own drink)

To eat healthy we need to eat daily one pound of raw vegetables for each 50 pounds of body weight.

By juicing this amount, it is very easy to get 50% of your body weight’s requirement of raw vegetables.

Raw food is important to our body because when it is consumed, it does not raise our white blood cells like cooked food does.

It did not change when raw foods or low temperature cooked foods were consumed.

Health juices are not a new thing over history. Limejuice cured scurvy in the16th century, saving thousands of sailor’s lives. But our generation has only recently discovered the nutritional and biochemical properties of fruit and vegetable fresh juices.

Juicing is the cheapest and most economical method to maintain the health of the individual in our time today. It was discovered that the best time to take a juice drink is in the morning and during the evening.

real raw food

Freshly squeezed juices from vegetables and fruit contain more vitamins and minerals, along with enzymes, than any canned or fresh juice. When making your juice, always include a dark leafy vegetable such as spinach, broccoli, cabbage, or beet tops.

It was discovered that the best time to take a juice drink is in the morning and during the evening.

Within ten minutes after consuming the drink they are absorbed into the bloodstream.

This is an advantage to drinking freshly juiced vegetables as compared to eating fresh vegetables and fruit.

Eating solid foods take several hours to digest, while a fresh fruit or vegetable drink is absorbed quickly into the system. The fiber is lost due to the juicing process but a higher amount of nutrients goes into the body and its system.

Juice Detoxing to Detox Fast!

February 12th, 2009

Juice Liver; Detoxify and Cleanse

Due to the highly processed foods that we consume and the polluted air that we breathe, our body accumulates toxins.

The body does its best to eliminate the toxins, but ends up being stressed due to the overload. Symptoms such as chronic headaches, skin allergies, premature ageing, etc. start to manifest.

What can we do to help our ailing body? Try juice fasting, as a safe way to detox! Many studies have been done on the beneficial effects of juice fasting. We can increase our lifespan, treat bio chemical imbalances, reduce our cholesterol levels, treat allergies, acne, etc.

In juice fasting, by giving the body a rest from food and digestion, the immune system can focus on elimination of toxins, with the aid of the organs of elimination (liver, pancreas, gall bladder, kidneys, intestines, skin, etc.).

During a prolonged fast (3 plus days), the body will start to burn off and digest its own tissues by process of autolysis in a discriminate manner.

It will first decompose and burn those cells and tissues, which are diseased, damaged, aged or dead (tumors, morbid cells, abscesses, excess fat deposits, etc.). The stomach shrinks and becomes less acidic.

Then, certain detox symptoms are experienced eg. acne breakouts, fatigue, headaches, as the body eliminates its toxins. These symptoms should ease and we will feel a renewed sense of health and well-being!

raw vegetable juice, detoxifyingYou can juice almost any fruit and vegetables that you can eat raw. Vegetables that are good for juicing include tomatoes, cucumbers, celery and carrots. Fruit vegetable combinations taste delicious.

For example, apple and carrot juice makes a nice blend. Another nice combination is apple, celery and tomato.

For vegetable and fruit skins, peel them off especially if you suspect that they have been sprayed. If you can use organic fruits, this will be much better. Rinse off in filtered or distilled water.

How to Juice for Juice Fasting?

It is recommended to dilute your juice 50/50 with water, especially if you are using fruits and the juice is too sweet. Use distilled water, if possible, for dilution. Also, remember that you can’t buy freshly prepared juice from a supermarket or any juice that comes from a packet, despite what the label on the packet says.

Any juice in a carton, can or bottle has been heat treated for preservation. Juice has to be prepared fresh! The longer the juice stays out, the less fresh raw food enzymes it will contain. This means that you either find a store that prepares it right before you drink it or you use a juicer yourself.
